WANA (Jun 20) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Baghaei has condemned the Israeli regime’s recent strike on an ambulance in Tehran as a clear war crime, calling it a blatant violation of international humanitarian law. The attack resulted in the killing of three civilian medical personnel.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Baghaei wrote:

“In yet another blatant violation of international humanitarian law, the Zionist Regime attacked an ambulance in Tehran, killing 3 civilian medical personnel. This is a deliberate manslaughter.

Under the Geneva Conventions, targeting medical personnel and humanitarian vehicles during relief operations is strictly prohibited and considered a war crime.

Israel has a long record of attacking medical facilities, aid convoys, and healthcare workers.

This normalization of atrocity crimes is a direct result of ‘impunity’ afforded to Israel through indifference and inaction of those who are legally tasked and morally obliged to talk & act.

The UNSC shall take swift action to shoulder its responsibility for stopping the aggressor from further atrocity.

All States, including Switzerland as the Geneva Conventions’ custodian, ICRC, Human Rights Council, WHO, and other releant int’l organizations have all a shared responsibility to ensure respect for IHL.”
