WANA (Apr 01) – Esmail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, has strongly condemned recent attacks on pharmaceutical facilities, describing them as a “crime against humanity.”

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Baghaei said that targeting pharmaceutical factories is a continuation of what he called “criminal sanctions” that have, over the past decades, deprived Iranians of access to life-saving medicines.

“Attacking pharmaceutical factories represents yet another dimension of these sanctions,” he wrote, adding that such actions directly impact civilians by limiting access to essential drugs.

He further described the strikes as a “blatant war crime” and warned against efforts to divert global attention from what he termed an “illegal war.”

Baghaei criticized those focusing on issues such as oil prices and food costs, cautioning that ignoring the situation could amount to complicity in the alleged atrocities.

According to the deputy health minister and head of Iran’s Food and Drug Organization, at 6:30 a.m. local time, multiple missiles struck the “Tofigh Darou” industrial complex, completely destroying its production, research, and development units.

He added that since the start of the war, 24 facilities in the pharmaceutical, medical equipment, and distribution sectors have sustained serious damage, though production and supply of essential items continue without interruption.
