Baghaei Denounces Assassination of Religious Cleric in Damascus
WANA (May 02) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has condemned a recent attack in the Sayyida Zeinab district of Damascus that claimed the life of Seyed Farhan Hassan al-Mansour, a local religious scholar and preacher.
Baghaei characterized the incident as part of a larger effort to destabilize the region and incite internal divisions. He called on regional actors to remain alert to such threats and urged a coordinated approach to addressing extremism.
The spokesperson extended condolences to the family of the deceased and the Syrian religious community, while calling for the identification and prosecution of those responsible for the attack.
Additionally, the Foreign Ministry official noted the importance of the Syrian transitional government’s role in maintaining security for all citizens, including religious and ethnic groups, during this period.
