WANA (Jul 02) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei dismissed the U.S.-backed Regional Security Dialogue held in Bahrain as “performative posturing” aimed at concealing what he described as Washington’s destabilizing policies and unlawful actions in West Asia.

Reacting to a statement by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), Baghaei said the United States has consistently shown “complete contempt for genuine peace and security” in the region.

He urged regional countries to remain vigilant and draw lessons from what he described as the recent U.S. and Israeli military attacks and actions that undermined regional peace and security.

Earlier, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, had reacted to this Regional Security Dialogue, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is “defined under Iran’s authority, not U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM),” criticizing a U.S.-led regional security initiative.

These remarks came in response to a U.S. Central Command announcement that it had led a regional security dialogue in Bahrain with military representatives from 12 countries.
