WANA (Mar 04) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that the European Union should oppose any action reminiscent of the historical Nazi mindset, warning that some member states risk standing on the wrong side of history.

In a post on X, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, referred to the European Union’s past and present role in dealing with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He noted that the European Union and the European Troika (EU/E3) once played a central role in international diplomacy and helped shape the 2015 nuclear agreement — the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — a major European foreign policy achievement that was later undermined and dismantled by the current U.S. administration.

Baghaei added that today, under pressure from the German Chancellor, some EU member states appear at risk of becoming ostensibly complicit in what he described as the aggressive actions and war crimes of the United States and Israel against the Iranian people — one of the world’s oldest and most enduring civilizational nation-states.

He emphasized that the European Union must oppose any measure that evokes historical Nazi-era thinking and instead remain committed to international law and justice.
