Baghaei: Iran’s Demands Conveyed via 10-Point Proposal
WANA (Apr 11) – Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei, speaking from the Pakistani capital, has provided a comprehensive update on the intense diplomatic efforts currently underway.
Iran’s 10-Point Proposal and Ongoing Talks
Baghaei confirmed that negotiations began immediately upon the delegation’s arrival. He noted that Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Ghalibaf, and Iran’s Foreign Minister, Araghchi, engaged in two to two-and-a-half hours of discussions with Pakistani officials.
“Iran’s considerations, viewpoints, and demands were conveyed to the Pakistani side based on a 10-point proposal package,” Baghaei stated. “It was important for us to express our country’s viewpoints without any ambiguity.” He added that these consultations are ongoing as the delegation continues to exchange views with its Pakistani hosts.
“Diplomacy is the Continuation of War”
The spokesperson framed the current diplomatic mission as a critical battle for the nation. “We are engaged in a diplomatic struggle at a specific juncture in Iran’s history,” he said. “For us, diplomacy is the continuation of defense and the continuation of war.”
Reflecting on the past 40 days of conflict, Baghaei remarked, “We have passed 40 days with all our might. The defenders of the homeland… are on the front lines. Now it is the turn of the diplomats.”
He assured the Iranian public that the diplomatic team will use all capacities to stabilize national achievements and defend Iran’s integrity, just as the armed forces stood by their launchers.
Monitoring the Ceasefire and Military Readiness
Baghaei emphasized that while diplomacy is active, the military remains vigilant. “The hands of the armed forces are on the trigger,” he warned, noting that any violation of the ceasefire is being monitored in close contact with military units.
He reported that following a few initial violations on the first day—which were met with a “decisive and powerful response” from Iranian forces—no serious breaches against the Islamic Republic have been recorded.
He noted that when potential grounds for violation appeared earlier today, “a very quick and serious warning was issued, and the enemy corrected its action immediately.”
Coordination with Lebanon
Regarding the regional scope of the agreement, Baghaei asserted that the cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon, is a fundamental part of the understanding.
“The Pakistani mediator has also stated that this was our demand,” he said. Baghaei confirmed that constant communication is being maintained between Islamabad and Beirut.
“We are also in dialogue with our ambassador in Beirut, and he reports to us regularly. Additionally, we are in contact with the relevant parties in Lebanon to ensure that the ceasefire obligations are fulfilled on all fronts,” he said.
