WANA (Jul 09) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s repeated remarks amounted to an admission of Europe’s deliberate complicity in what he described as the U.S.-Israeli war of aggression against Iran.

In a post on X, Baghaei said Rutte’s statements confirmed that European countries “were not impartial in this brutal unlawful aggression.” He added that countries which provided their territories, military bases, and infrastructure to facilitate the attacks “cannot evade responsibility for their contribution to an unprovoked aggression and its grave consequences.”

Baghaei also criticized Rutte’s praise of NATO’s role, saying his “relentless self-congratulation for serving an illegal war of choice” reflected “the servile mindset of a fawning courtier who fancies that flattery can erase a king’s contempt.”

He added that, in Washington’s view, “an ineffective Organization cannot be rendered effective through sycophancy,” and said such “manipulative flattery” could neither restore the organization’s effectiveness nor the flatterer’s own self-respect and personal integrity.
