WANA (Jul 22) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said there are no nuclear activities at Kolang Mountain, dismissing recent U.S. claims about the site as “nothing more than a pretext for destruction.”?

In a statement released on Wednesday, Baghaei said all of Iran’s nuclear activities have been declared to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in accordance with its safeguards obligations. He added that repeated U.S. threats and attacks against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities violate the UN Charter, international law, relevant IAEA Board of Governors and General Conference resolutions, as well as UN Security Council resolutions.

His remarks came in response to comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump, who said during a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun on Tuesday that the United States would strike a “new site” at Kolang Mountain if it believed Iran was pursuing nuclear weapons there.

Mount Kolang

Rejecting the allegation, Baghaei said, “America’s obsessive focus on Kolang Mountain, where no nuclear activities exist, is nothing but an excuse for destruction and devastation.”

He also questioned the silence of the IAEA, writing, “Where is the Director General of the IAEA, who is also a candidate for the position of UN Secretary-General?”

Baghaei concluded by saying that the Iranian people would “stand firmly against U.S. hostility and any violation of the country’s sovereignty and national security.”
