WANA (Sep 12) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the upcoming meeting in Oman on Monday will serve as a key foundation for ensuring stability and security in the Persian Gulf region.

Speaking during a visit to Lamerd County on Saturday, Baghaei discussed the recent events in the southern Iranian city and Iran’s position toward regional countries.

Baghaei claimed that each U.S. missile that struck a sports hall in Lamerd contained approximately 180,000 fragments.

He said Iran’s message to neighboring countries was that Tehran had not targeted those countries, but had instead targeted U.S. military bases, which he described as the source of the attacks.

Baghaei also highlighted the importance of Monday’s meeting in Oman, saying it could play a fundamental role in establishing stability and security in the Persian Gulf.

During a briefing following a screening of a documentary about the incident in Lamerd, Baghaei described the attack as a crime not only against the people of Lamerd but against Iran as a whole and, in his words, against humanity.

He stressed the need to document the incident and have it formally recorded at the international level.
