WANA (Jun 20) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has sharply criticized recent remarks made by the French Foreign Minister regarding the Iranian people, characterizing them as the peak of hypocrisy and duplicity.

 

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Baghaei addressed the French official directly, asserting that hypocrisy and duplicity seemingly remain prominent features of French political culture to this day. To illustrate his point, the spokesperson referenced Molière’s 1664 play Tartuffe, quoting the playwright’s observation that hypocrisy had become a fashionable vice.

 

Baghaei further accused the French government of complicity with past aggressors, noting that France had remained silent during historical periods when Iranian cities were ruthlessly bombarded and innocent civilians were brutally massacred in locations such as Minab, Tehran, Lamerd, and Isfahan.

 

The spokesperson concluded by stating that the French minister’s conscience had now suddenly and selectively awakened solely to serve the political interests of his own government. Baghaei condemned the official for having the audacity to lecture others on the human rights of the Iranian people, describing the stance as an extraordinary display of hypocrisy.
