Baghaei: Unlike the US, Iran’s Defensive Strikes Targeted Military Assets
WANA (Sep 04) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that, in contrast to the United States—which he stated has made targeting civilian objectives a constant pattern in its illegal wars—Iran’s defensive strikes were directed exclusively at military targets.
In a message referring to a document submitted by Qatar to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Baghaei highlighted that the filing confirmed Iran’s defensive strikes were aimed strictly at US military bases.
He noted that Qatar’s official document submitted to the ITU verified that Iranian strikes against US forces stationed in Qatar targeted military installations exclusively, with no civilian areas being hit.
Baghaei added that the sole exception cited by Qatar involved a gas facility on March 18. However, he maintained that even in that instance, the facility was actively supporting US military operations against Iran at the time.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson urged a comparison between Iran’s precision and care in selecting military targets and the actions of the United States, which he said has repeatedly struck civilians and non-military infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, residential areas, wedding ceremonies, and bridges.
He stated that a vast difference exists between a civilized nation that adheres to moral and humanitarian principles even under the most difficult circumstances, and war-mongering rulers who disregard all legal principles and ethical rules in their displays of power.
The US strike on a wedding ceremony in Kohastak, located in the Sirik county of Hormozgan province, resulted in over 70 casualties—both dead and injured—most of whom were women and children. The report added that the US, alongside the Israeli regime, had previously committed similar actions in Minab, Lamerd, and Qeshm.
