Baghaei: US Must Prove Commitment to Diplomacy
WANA (Jul 03) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, has called on the United States to prove its commitment to diplomacy, warning that it should not be used as a tool for deception or psychological warfare against Iran.
Speaking to a British media outlet, Baghaei addressed recent developments, efforts to resume a diplomatic process, and “12-day imposed war against Iran.”
Responding to a question about the Pentagon’s acknowledgment of America’s inability to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, Baghaei said:
“First and foremost, there must be a correct understanding of the developments that have occurred. We witnessed aggressive actions by Israel, followed by the United States, against Iran and its territorial integrity.”
He added: “For 12 days, the world saw an unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Iranians. The US and Israel killed many Iranians. Nearly a thousand Iranians were killed in this brutal war imposed on Iran. Iran’s nuclear facilities suffered significant damage.”
Baghaei emphasized that Iran’s nuclear facilities remain under “the most extensive and strict monitoring” by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
On the possibility of resuming talks between Iran and the US, Baghaei said:
“I know there is indirect contact with the US. The Iranian Foreign Minister is consulting with Oman, Qatar, and other countries. Diplomacy will never end.”
He reiterated: “The Americans must demonstrate their loyalty to diplomacy. Diplomacy should not be used as a tool for deception or psychological warfare against Iran.”
When asked about Israel’s reported calls for further attacks on Iran, Baghaei stressed:
“Iran’s capable military power is ready to counter any Israeli adventurism. We have shown that we will respond to any act of aggression. We have shown that we will defend our pride and territorial integrity with full force.”
