WANA (Oct 13) – Iranian para powerlifter Mohsen Bakhtiar claimed a silver medal at the World Para Powerlifting Championships in Egypt.

Competing in the 65 kg category, Bakhtiar—who had previously lifted in the 59 kg class at the Paralympics—faced tough rivals this afternoon. He successfully lifted 196 kg in his first attempt and improved to 201 kg in his second. However, his final effort to lift 206 kg was unsuccessful.

With a best lift of 201 kg and a total of 397 kg, Bakhtiar secured the runner-up position and a silver medal.

Earlier in the competition, Amir Jafari and Ruhollah Rostami had also won silver medals for Iran.
