Beijing: Reimposing Sanctions on Iran Is Unconstructive
WANA (Aug 29) – The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday criticized the actions of three European countries in activating the “Snapback” mechanism against the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling the move unconstructive.
During a press briefing, a spokesperson said: “Reimposing sanctions on Iran is an unconstructive step and will hinder the resolution of Iran’s nuclear issue through diplomatic and peaceful means.”
The spokesperson added, as reported by Al Jazeera: “We support peace and dialogue to bring the Iran nuclear issue back onto the right track.”
Emphasizing that the Iran nuclear issue is at a sensitive stage, the Chinese official stressed the importance of diplomacy and negotiation to resolve disputes.
In other remarks, the spokesperson stated: “Taiwan is an inseparable part of China, and we reject any official interactions between the United States and Taiwan.”
He also noted that dialogue and negotiation are the only solutions to the Ukraine crisis and urged the relevant parties not to escalate tensions.
