WANA (Dec 10) – Shahram Mokri’s film Black Rabbit, White Rabbit has won the Golden Coconut Award for Best Film at the Hainan International Film Festival in China.

 

The award was presented during the festival’s closing ceremony on Hainan Island. Marco Müller, the well-known artistic director, together with jury president Juliette Binoche, presented the prize to Mokri for his achievement.

 

Mokri, who was attending the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia during the ceremony, sent a message of appreciation to the Hainan festival. His note was read by Amir Esbati, who represented the film’s team at the event.

 

After receiving the award, Esbati expressed his gratitude to the jury and described the recognition as a significant achievement for the film’s production team.

 

Just days earlier, Black Rabbit, White Rabbit had also been honored with the festival’s Emerging Talent Award in the “Top Talents” section.

 

International distribution of the film is handled by DreamLab Films, led by Nasrin Mireshab. Following the festival, the film is scheduled for a screening tour across China. Produced by Negar Eskandarfard and written by Nasim Ahmadpour and Shahram Mokri, the film is a joint production between Tajikistan and Dubai.

 

After its screenings at the Red Sea Festival, Black Rabbit, White Rabbit will also compete at the Kerala International Film Festival in India. The film stars Hasti Mohamayi and Babak Karimi in leading roles.
