WANA (Jul 04) – Abdulmajid al-Houthi, a leader of Yemen’s Ansarallah movement, said the Yemeni delegation reached Tehran despite what he described as a blockade and military threats.

 

He claimed that as the delegation departed, the airport was under siege while Saudi and Israeli warplanes flew overhead in an attempt to prevent the Iranian aircraft from taking off or landing.

 

Al-Houthi said the Iranian plane and the Yemeni delegation overcame the enemy’s “blockade and dominance” and successfully arrived in Tehran.

 

He also stated that Yemen would not surrender to the United States or Israel, adding that the movement views “martyrdom” as a source of honor and victory.

 

Earlier, Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, spokesman for the Yemeni Armed Forces, said a formation of Saudi fighter jets violated Yemeni airspace in an attempt to prevent an Iranian civilian aircraft from landing at Sanaa International Airport.

 

Saree said the Saudi attempt to block the aircraft’s landing was thwarted by the Yemeni Armed Forces, allowing the plane to land safely.

 

He added that Yemeni air defense units fired several surface-to-air missiles at the Saudi warplanes, forcing them to withdraw from Yemeni airspace.

 

Saree warned Saudi Arabia against any further violations of Yemeni airspace or acts of aggression, saying any future attacks would be met with a comprehensive response targeting Saudi airports and other vital interests on land and at sea.

 

He also said Yemen would never accept the continuation of what he described as the “Saudi-American blockade” and would pursue all legitimate measures to bring it to an end.
