WANA (Aug 17) – Seyed Mahmoud Nabavian, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, criticized calls for renewed negotiations to lift the blockade and called for a ban on the passage of oil from regional countries through the Persian Gulf.

 

In a post on X, Nabavian said that under the previous memorandum, the blockade had been lifted in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and argued that returning to negotiations for a similar arrangement would be misguided.

 

He said the way to lift the blockade was to prevent “even a single drop of oil” from regional countries from passing through the Persian Gulf.

 

Nabavian also said that in what he described as a world governed by “the law of the jungle,” the blockade would ultimately be lifted through the use of power and force.
