WANA (May 27) – Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a prominent member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, has briefed the media on the ongoing diplomatic maneuvers and the drafting of an initial agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States.

According to Boroujerdi, the preliminary draft dictates that as a first step, the U.S. must commit to a comprehensive 60-day ceasefire across all battlefronts, with a specific focus on Lebanese territory.

Key Demands and Reciprocal Commitments

The senior lawmaker outlined Tehran’s core prerequisites for the deal, which include the unfreezing of a substantial portion of blocked Iranian assets and an immediate end to the maritime blockade.

“In return, the Islamic Republic will permit shipping traffic in the region to resume, operating strictly under Iran’s sovereign mechanisms and regulations,” Boroujerdi stated. “This ensures that maritime security is established while fully preserving our national authority.”

Boroujerdi emphasized that the current phase of the agreement is strictly focused on de-escalation and will not enter into the complexities of the nuclear file. Should these initial principles be accepted and implemented, all remaining outstanding issues and supplementary negotiations will be deferred to a separate, second phase.

Criticism of U.S. Leadership

Addressing the contradictory stances coming from Washington—where the U.S. President shifts between praising progress on the deal and threatening tightened blockades or demanding uranium enrichment suspensions—Boroujerdi did not hold back.

“The reality is that the U.S. President lacks mental and psychological equilibrium, making statements entirely beneath the dignity of a country’s leader,” Boroujerdi said. “Consequently, little weight can be given to these inconsistent and unstable remarks.”

Standing Firm on National Lines

The national security committee member concluded by reinforcing that Iran’s diplomatic apparatus and state leadership do not make decisions based on Trump’s volatile social media output.

Outcome-Driven Diplomacy: Iran remains focused exclusively on the tangible results of the negotiations, disregarding White House media rhetoric.

Red Lines Secure: Any final document that reaches the signing stage will strictly adhere to the establishment’s red lines.

National Safeguards: The final accord will serve solely to protect the national interests and rights of the Iranian people.
