Boroujerdi: New Missile Variants Unveiled in Tactical Response to Israel
WANA (Jun 09) – Iran deployed a brand-new class of ballistic missiles during its latest military operations against the Israeli regime, a senior lawmaker stated, warning that any further escalation will prompt direct strikes on vital U.S. interests in the region.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, detailed the strategic motivations behind the recent theater dynamics in an interview.
“The primary driver behind these recent maneuvers is that the Zionist regime and its criminal Prime Minister seek to prolong the conflict,” Boroujerdi stated.
He noted that Benjamin Netanyahu views his political survival as tethered to continued warfare and remains deeply concerned about a potential diplomatic agreement between Iran and the United States, viewing both scenarios as fundamentally opposed to the regime’s interests.
The lawmaker emphasized that Israel initiated the latest round of hostilities despite being fully aware that the very first clause of Tehran’s proposed diplomatic framework mandates establishing security guarantees for Lebanon equivalent to those of the Islamic Republic.
Defending the Axis of Resistance and Regional Warning
Boroujerdi highlighted the interconnected nature of regional defense alliances, describing Lebanon as one of the most critical links in the Axis of Resistance chain.
He noted that when the adversary launched military operations targeting the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, a decisive display of force from Tehran became inevitable.
“We are practically engaged in a war,” Boroujerdi asserted, pointing to a strict doctrine of reciprocity. “Just as they targeted our petrochemical infrastructure, we countered by striking the Haifa petrochemical facilities. If this continues, we will undoubtedly target vital U.S. interests in the region, which means a comprehensive expansion of the war.”
The parliamentary member urged regional neighboring states to utilize all diplomatic channels and communications to halt the escalation, warning that Iranian forces will otherwise continue their defensive operations against illegitimate Israeli attacks with maximum severity.
Advanced Arsenal and Public Mobilization
Highlighting Iran’s offensive military advantages over conventional defense networks, Boroujerdi characterized the country’s missile and drone capabilities as globally preeminent.
He confirmed that the latest operations served as the operational debut for a new generation of missiles, adding that numerous advanced weapon systems remain entirely unused in storage.
“If the enemy chooses to continue this game, we will launch wide-ranging strikes across the occupied territories,” Boroujerdi concluded, stating that while continuation is not in the interest of Washington or Tel Aviv, Iranian forces stand fully prepared in the theater should they choose to test their luck.
The senior lawmaker closed his remarks by praising the Iranian public, expressing deep gratitude for their widespread and epic presence on the national stage during the crisis.
