BRICS+ Municipal Leadership: Ready to Provide Any Necessary Support to Tehran
WANA (Apr 13) – The leadership of the BRICS+ Association of Cities and Municipalities has issued a joint message of solidarity to Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani, offering support while emphasizing the principles of national sovereignty and peaceful conflict resolution.
Ilsur Metshin, Mayor of Kazan (Russia) and Honorary President of the Association, alongside Washington Quaquá, Mayor of Maricá (Brazil) and President of the Association, thanked Mayor Zakani for his video address to the organization’s recent summit in India. The event coincided with the centenary of the “All India Institute of Local Self-Government.”
Support Amid Regional Turmoil
In their message, the BRICS+ leaders expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. “The Association declares its solidarity with you and emphasizes its readiness to provide any necessary support, while maintaining continuous adherence to the principles of respect for national sovereignty,” the statement read.
Tribute to Iranian Resilience
The municipal leaders extended their condolences for the losses suffered by the Iranian people, stating: “The resilience, courage, and dignity shown by the Iranian people in the face of these challenges are admirable. Cooperation with the cities of the Islamic Republic of Iran within the framework of this union is of great importance and value to us.”
The message concluded with hopes for continued constructive interaction and the swift restoration of peace and stability in the region.
