British Ambassador Summoned Again to Iran’s Foreign Ministry
WANA (Jan 12) – Following another attack on the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London, the British ambassador was summoned to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the second time.
After violent elements once again vandalized the Iranian flag at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in London, the British ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry. During the meeting, Alireza Yousefi, Director General for Western Europe, condemned the act as a violation of international law and conveyed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strong protest over the UK government’s failure to take necessary measures to protect Iran’s embassy.
The British ambassador, while apologizing for the insult to the Iranian flag following the attack by law-breaking elements on Iran’s embassy in London, stated that his government would take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
The British ambassador was also warned that if the UK government again fails to fulfill its legal and international obligations to protect Iranian diplomatic premises in the United Kingdom, the Islamic Republic of Iran will take appropriate measures.
