Broadcast of Over 50 Hours of Iranian Documentaries in Russian on BRICS TV
WANA (Sep 03) – BRICS TV has announced that it will broadcast more than 50 hours of documentaries on Iran’s history, culture, and attractions, translated into Russian and included in its programming schedule. In addition to television broadcasts, these productions will also be made available to the network’s partner media outlets in Russian-speaking countries.
The programming rollout is set to begin in fall 2025, starting with the first episodes of Above Fars, directed by Amin Malekzadeh, which explores Iran’s historical, natural, and cultural heritage. Other documentaries to be dubbed and aired for Russian-speaking audiences include Saffron: A New Industry by Abdollah Haji Mohammadi, as well as the series Iran Traveler directed by Javad Gharaei and Hamed Jam.
The broadcasting rights were granted following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) and BRICS TV. According to the network’s managers, another collection of documentaries and animated films focusing on Iran’s traditions, local cuisines, and tourism potential is also in preparation.
Masoud Ahmadvand, Cultural Counselor at Iran’s Embassy in Russia, commented on the collaboration: “The screening of Iranian films and travel programs in Russia plays a significant role in strengthening cultural dialogue and mutual understanding between our peoples. This initiative is an important step toward deeper and more trustworthy relations between Iran and Russia.”
Ksenia Komissarova, Editor-in-Chief of BRICS TV, stated: “In addition to airing on our channel, Iranian documentaries will also become part of our video content library, which includes works from foreign producers in BRICS member states and other partner countries.” She further announced plans to screen these documentaries at the BRICS+ Cultural Media and Information Center in Moscow.
Previously, the network had aired Dot, directed by Amir Valinejad, which highlighted the art of Iranian calligraphy.
