WANA (Jun 07) – The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant has secured a top-tier global ranking, achieving a perfect score of 100 out of 100 for both operational safety and efficiency, according to Mohammad Eslami, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, reports.

 

This marks the third consecutive year the facility has maintained its position within the elite top-10 bracket of international nuclear power plants.

 

The ranking is determined by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO), an international body that conducts rigorous, on-site audits rather than relying on self-reported data from member states.

 

Rigorous International Peer Reviews

According to the official, the evaluation process is highly stringent and carried out in person by a rotating panel of international nuclear experts drawn from various power plants worldwide.

 

This comprehensive audit evaluates several key operational areas, focusing closely on daily process management, environmental safety standards, personnel competency, and overall facility maintenance activities.

 

A Validated Global Standing

Eslami emphasized that the perfect score is a reflection of objective, third-party validation rather than domestic self-assessment.

 

“This rating is not based on self-declaration,” he stated. “It is the result of a meticulous, independent audit of our processes, environment, personnel, and activities. Praise be to God, this is now the third year in a row that we have maintained our position among the top-rated facilities globally with a perfect score of 100.”

 

The sustained perfect rating positions the Bushehr facility as a leading regional benchmark for nuclear safety and operational excellence, reflecting ongoing compliance with international nuclear industry standards.
