WANA (Jul 30) – The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced early Thursday that the latest round of U.S. military strikes against targets across Iran has concluded.

 

In a statement, CENTCOM said the operation began at 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on July 29 in response to the previous day’s missile attacks on U.S. forces and had been completed successfully.

 

According to the statement, dozens of targets across Iran were struck, including military command centers, missile and drone facilities, surveillance and coastal defense sites, and naval capabilities. CENTCOM said the operation was intended to further reduce threats posed by Iran and its allied forces against U.S. personnel, commercial shipping, and Persian Gulf states.

 

The U.S. military also stated that Iran had launched several ballistic missiles toward American forces stationed in the Middle East on July 28, adding that all of the missiles were successfully intercepted.

 

CENTCOM further said that more than 50,000 U.S. military personnel are currently deployed across the Middle East and remain on high alert and fully prepared.

 

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal, citing a U.S. official, reported that the latest American strikes would cover a broader geographical area and be more extensive than operations conducted in recent weeks.
