WANA (Jul 29) – The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed early Wednesday that Iran had launched a surprise missile attack targeting American military forces stationed in Jordan.

The official military confirmation followed earlier statements from a US official who acknowledged the missile strike on the American base.

In an official statement released early Wednesday, CENTCOM reported that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) forces had launched multiple ballistic missiles from Iran late Tuesday afternoon in a surprise attack directed at US troops stationed in the Middle East.

The command further claimed that all incoming Iranian missiles had been successfully intercepted and emphasized that US forces remained vigilant and in a high state of readiness.

Prior to the official announcement, local sources had circulated imagery purporting to show direct Iranian missile impacts at the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base located in the Al-Azraq region of Jordan.
