WANA (Sep 20) – The Secretariat of the Supreme Council of Free Trade–Industrial and Special Economic Zones announced that, following the recent visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Oman and in fulfillment of commitments made during that trip, the Chabahar–Muscat passenger shipping line will officially begin operations next week.

This significant initiative has been implemented with the continuous support and follow-up of Reza Masrour, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free and Special Economic Zones, in line with the government’s regional development policies.

The official inauguration of the maritime route will take place next week, with Masrour in attendance, highlighting the strategic importance of the project in strengthening economic, tourism, and cultural ties between Iran and Oman.

Mohammad Saeed Arbabi, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization, said in a statement: “The passenger ship service from Muscat to Chabahar fulfills the promise made by the President during his recent visit to Oman. We appreciate the support of the Governor of Sistan and Baluchestan and the Secretary of the Supreme Council of Free Zones, as well as the efforts of the Ports and Maritime Organization in making this possible.”

He further noted that maritime tourism has been a missing link in Chabahar’s development and expressed hope that the launch of this line will activate the region’s untapped potential in international tourism.
