WANA (Jun 17) – Expressing deep concern and profound sorrow over the humanitarian fallout of the conflict in Iran and Lebanon, China has announced its decision to dispatch humanitarian assistance to both nations.

“China is deeply saddened by the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the war in Iran and its spillover effects,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian told reporters in Beijing on Wednesday.

According to reports, the Chinese diplomat added that, given the current circumstances of the affected nations, Beijing has decided to extend humanitarian aid to Iran and Lebanon. The assistance aims to support the population through recovery and reconstruction efforts, while bolstering their economic situation and livelihoods.

This marks the second time Beijing has dispatched humanitarian aid to Iran since the onset of the American-Israeli conflict, following a prior shipment in March.

Beijing Backs Upcoming Peace Accord

Addressing the upcoming peace agreement aimed at ending the war between Iran and the United States—scheduled to be signed by both parties in Switzerland this Friday—the foreign ministry spokesperson reiterated Beijing’s diplomatic support.

“As a good friend to Middle Eastern countries, China will continue to offer its support, intensify efforts to advance peace talks, and maintain a positive role in restoring peace and stability to the region as quickly as possible,” Lin Jian stated.

The conflict termination agreement between Iran and the United States also stipulates an end to Israeli strikes on Lebanon, where approximately 3,800 people have been killed since the outbreak of hostilities.
