Chinese Tourism Vehicles to Support Iran’s Travel Sector
WANA (Sep 14) – Iran is considering a creative partnership with China to import specialized tourism vehicles as part of efforts to bridge infrastructure gaps and expand its tourism industry.
According to Travel & Tour World, the project aims to establish a dedicated fleet for Iran’s growing tourism sector and play a key role in advancing the goals of the country’s Seventh National Development Plan. Under the initiative, high-quality vehicles designed for tourists will be imported to enhance the travel experience in Iran.
The Touring and Automobile Club of Iran announced that it has begun negotiations to draft a new roadmap for improving tourism infrastructure. The talks, held in Guangzhou, focused on possible imports of Chinese-made tourism vehicles tailored to Iranian travelers’ needs.
Preliminary discussions indicate that the vehicles may include modern buses, camper vans, and caravans equipped with panoramic windows, comfortable seating, restrooms, entertainment systems, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and charging ports. They will be customized to suit Iran’s climate and cultural diversity while meeting high safety standards.
The Guangzhou Export and Import Center, which has experience shipping vehicles to Africa, South America, and West Asia, has expressed interest in starting trial exports to Iran. These initial shipments would allow both sides to assess and refine the plan for better adaptation to local conditions.
The project is being overseen by Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts in cooperation with the Touring and Automobile Club.
The initiative is expected to improve travel experiences for both domestic and foreign tourists, create new opportunities for local businesses in transport and hospitality, and attract more international visitors.
Analysts say that while Iran possesses vast tourism potential thanks to its ancient history, diverse landscapes, and cultural heritage, the lack of modern infrastructure remains a key obstacle.
Importing tourism vehicles is seen as one part of Iran’s broader strategy to address these gaps. If implemented successfully, the plan could help position Iran as a leading tourism destination in the region.
No further details have yet been released by Iranian officials on the outcome of the talks or the timetable for importing the vehicles from China.
