Clarification by the Iranian Embassy on Report Regarding Cultural Meeting
WANA (JUN 06) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Russian Federation has issued a clarification regarding a recently published report on the meeting between Russian Iranologists and Ambassador Kazem Jalali.
According to the Embassy, the original report mistakenly attributed the following statements to the ambassador:
1. That Russia has invested $8 billion in Iran’s gas fields;
2. That the Russian President’s visit to Iran is imminent.
The Embassy has issued the following corrections:
Based on agreements between the two countries, Russian companies have thus far signed contracts totaling $8 billion for investment in Iran’s oil fields, not gas fields.
Regarding the visit of President Vladimir Putin to Iran, the Embassy clarified that while the visit is expected to take place in the future, no specific date has been agreed upon yet, and arrangements are still in progress.
The Embassy expressed its regret for the earlier inaccuracies and thanked readers for their understanding.
