WANA (Feb 09) – The spokesperson for the Presiding Board of Iran’s Parliament outlined the details of this morning’s closed-door session, attended by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that the central message of the meeting was the full coordination between “diplomacy and the field” within the decision-making structure of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Abbas Goudarzi stated that the simultaneous presence of the country’s highest-ranking military official and the foreign minister reflected Iran’s integrated approach to advancing its national interests—an approach in which diplomatic tools and field capabilities function not as two separate tracks, but as a unified and coherent force.

According to him, during the session the head of Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, along with several lawmakers, presented their views on the course of negotiations.

Referring to the experience of the previous nuclear agreement, members stressed the need for precision and vigilance by the negotiating team and called for serious consideration of the United States’ record of non-compliance in future decision-making. They underscored that negotiations must be conducted from a position of strength and that safeguarding the country’s nuclear industry remains a non-negotiable red line.

Goudarzi added that the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and the Foreign Minister delivered reports affirming that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not accept zero-percent enrichment, describing enrichment as a strategic right for future generations. It was also announced that the framework and venue of the negotiations have been determined by Iran, a move portrayed as evidence of the country’s diplomatic initiative and authority.

The parliamentary spokesperson further referred to the security assessments presented at the session, noting that Iran’s defensive preparedness has been enhanced to address hybrid and multi-dimensional warfare. Both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the country’s defense capabilities have significantly improved compared to the past. The experience of recent confrontations and security threats, he said, has better prepared Iran to face more complex scenarios.

He also highlighted the emphasis placed on national cohesion during the meeting, stating that internal unity was identified as a key component of national power. Participants warned that weakening social solidarity or amplifying adversarial media narratives could harm national security.

According to Goudarzi, it was further announced that negotiations are being pursued indirectly at Iran’s initiative, although the possibility of brief and limited encounters between the teams remains.

At the same time, officials stressed that Iran’s diplomatic team will not accept an agreement at any cost, and that preserving national dignity and interests takes precedence over any outcome. It was also emphasized that the country’s economic and military affairs must not be made contingent upon the results of the negotiations.

In concluding the session, the Speaker of Parliament stated that diplomacy itself constitutes a form of struggle in the international arena, stressing that the Islamic Republic’s fundamental principles—including the right to nuclear enrichment and its missile capabilities—are not subject to negotiation.

The Foreign Minister likewise affirmed that any potential agreement would fully comply with parliamentary legislation and resolutions, and that economic diplomacy—particularly with neighboring countries—will continue vigorously.

At the end of the meeting, participants reiterated that negotiations under the shadow of threats are unacceptable and that maintaining national unity remains the essential condition for safeguarding Iran’s dignity and standing in regional and international equations.
