WANA (Apr 18) – The Chairman of the Iranian Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ebrahim Azizi has officially declared that a new maritime order is now in effect within the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement published on his social media account, Azizi emphasized that the time has come for international actors to comply with this new system, noting that the Islamic Republic of Iran determines the regulations of this waterway rather than virtual or social media posts.

According to the senior lawmaker, under this newly established framework, only commercial vessels are permitted to transit the area.

This passage is strictly contingent upon obtaining prior authorization from the Armed Forces General Staff, specifically the Navy, and requires ships to follow designated routes after the payment of the Iranian nations rightful dues.

Azizi further warned that if the United States creates any interference for Iranian vessels, these current transit permissions can be easily revoked.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy Command has confirmed that this new order is now being enforced based on specific principles.

Civilian vessels must travel exclusively through paths determined by Iran, while the transit of military vessels remains strictly prohibited.

Furthermore, all movements require direct permission from the IRGC Navy.

This transition is reportedly taking place following the implementation of the ceasefire in Lebanon.
