WANA (Jul 16) – The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned the recent criminal attack by the Israeli regime on the areas of North Beqaa, Baalbek, and Hermel in Lebanon, which led to the killing and wounding of 24 Lebanese citizens and Syrian refugees in these regions.

Ismail Baghaei, referring to the intensification of Israeli military aggression against Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty and the killing of Lebanese civilians in various parts of the country, described the inaction and silence of the United Nations Security Council in the face of these aggressions and crimes as disgraceful and unjustifiable. He stressed the responsibility of guarantor parties—especially the United States—for the ongoing and criminal violations of the occupying regime.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson also pointed to the overt support provided by the United States to the Israeli regime, including through entirely one-sided proposals that clearly serve the regime’s illegitimate interests and aim to undermine Lebanon’s national security, cohesion, and economic well-being. He emphasized that resistance and self-defense in the face of aggression is an inherent right of every nation and a safeguard of its national dignity.
