WANA (May 26) – Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s recent crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, alongside its continued occupation and aggression against Lebanon and Syria.

Baghaei referred to the unprecedented atrocities committed by the Israeli regime over the past two days—particularly the killing of nine members of a doctor’s family and the attack on the Fahmi Al-Jarjaoui school in central Gaza, which resulted in the death of over 50 innocent Palestinians. He described the attacks on refugee camps and gatherings of displaced civilians as clear examples of war crimes, serving the colonial genocide project against the Palestinian nation. He emphasized that the regime, emboldened by international silence and the absence of effective global action, has escalated the scale and brutality of its crimes against defenseless Palestinians, showing no regard for international norms. This, he said, intensifies the international community’s responsibility to act urgently in support of the oppressed Palestinian people.

Expressing deep revulsion at the extremist Zionist crimes in the West Bank and Jerusalem—including the desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by regime officials and the assault by radical settlers on the village of Bruqin and the torching of Palestinian property—Baghaei stressed that it is the legal and moral duty of all countries and international organizations to act decisively to stop Israeli atrocities and prevent the normalization of killing, home demolitions, and occupation.

He also highlighted the direct responsibility of the Israeli regime’s supporters—particularly the United States, the United Kingdom, and certain other European countries—for the crimes committed by the occupying regime. He emphasized that Washington and its allies bear fundamental responsibility for shielding Israeli criminals from accountability, obstructing the proceedings of the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, and enabling the regime’s ongoing impunity. These countries, Baghaei concluded, must be held accountable for their complicity in the continuation of genocide in Gaza.
