WANA (Jul 29) – The registration process for the Ph.D. and Research-Based Ph.D. entrance exams in the fields of Basic Medical Sciences, Public Health and Specialized Sciences, Pharmacy, and Dentistry for the academic year 2025–2026 will begin on August 5, 2025, and continue until August 12, 2025. Candidates must register exclusively online via the official website of the Medical Education Assessment Center.

 

The nationwide exam is scheduled to be held on October 30, 2025. Additional Requirements for Foreign Applicants:

 

Foreign nationals intending to take part in the entrance exam must fulfill both the general and specific conditions outlined for the exam, along with the following additional criteria:

 

Non-Iranian accepted candidates are required to thoroughly review the examination guidebook. Claims of unawareness regarding its contents will not be accepted.

 

All non-Iranian applicants residing in Iran are allowed to participate in the exam as independent candidates but must achieve 100% of the minimum passing score. However, students with an official scholarship agreement need to secure at least 70% of the minimum passing score of the last admitted Iranian student in the open quota for that field.

 

These scholarship candidates must obtain a letter of endorsement from the Ministry of Health’s Educational Services Center and upload the original scanned version during the registration process.

Required Identification and Residency Documents:

  • Foreign nationals must hold one of the following valid documents to register:
  • Passport with a minimum of six months of valid residency.
  • Political asylum booklet issued by the Law Enforcement Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran (with official verification).
  • Valid identity card for foreign nationals as approved by the Ministry of Interior’s Bureau for Aliens and Foreign Immigrants Affairs.
  • Latest valid “Amayesh” card (a residency card for refugees).

 

Special Notes:

Preliminary registration of students from Al-Mustafa International University is accepted with passports and residence permits issued by the university, but final enrollment requires an official student visa and legal residency.

 

Candidates who fail to mark the “non-Iranian” option during initial registration will have their admission revoked.

 

Iran holds no obligation to issue residence permits for any dependents of international students except for spouses and children.

 

International students are subject to the same academic and institutional regulations as Iranian students.

 

Simultaneous enrollment in other institutions such as Al-Mustafa International University or Ahl al-Bayt University, along with a Ph.D. program in Medical Sciences, is strictly prohibited.

 

Non-Iranian students are exempt from Iran’s mandatory military service.

 

Foreign nationals cannot be admitted to institutions located in restricted zones. If accepted into such zones, their admission will be considered void, and no alternative placements will be offered.

 

All foreign students admitted to Iranian universities are obliged to pay tuition fees as determined by the Ministry of Health. Applicants should verify tuition costs before registration.

 

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 14 out of 20 in their Master’s degree (or equivalent) as stated in their official graduation documents.

 

Any discrepancies in GPA submitted during registration will be addressed in accordance with official regulations.

 

If it is found that a student has previously obtained an equivalent degree and is re-enrolling in a redundant program, they will be expelled. Institutions are required to obtain a written commitment from such students during enrollment.

 

Upon graduation, non-Iranian students must return to their home country, and universities must obtain a notarized commitment from students to this effect.

 

Final admission is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.

 

Issuance of diplomas to foreign graduates is contingent upon submission of a confirmed exit visa from Iran.
