Continuation of the Ceasefire Depends on the Other Side’s Adherence to Commitments
WANA (Apr 10) – Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, stated: “Iran’s responsible approach in accepting the ceasefire is in line with maintaining regional stability and preventing the expansion of conflicts, and its continuation depends on the other side’s actual adherence to its commitments.”
The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the President of Turkey, exchanged views in a telephone conversation regarding the latest situation resulting from the military aggression of the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, the declaration of the ceasefire, as well as solutions for the definitive conclusion of the war and the establishment of lasting stability and security in the region.
During this conversation, the President, while thanking the efforts of certain friendly and neighboring countries toward stopping the military aggression against Iran, expressed appreciation for Turkey’s position in condemning the oppressive aggression of the U.S. and Israel against Iran, and especially for the significant solidarity of the Turkish nation with the Iranian nation.
Pezeshkian emphasized: “Despite the United States’ betrayal of diplomacy and its attack on Iran during the previous two rounds of negotiations, the Islamic Republic of Iran, with continued responsibility, has accepted the requests of neighboring and friendly countries to stop the war and establish a ceasefire.”
The President, emphasizing the necessity of ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, clarified: “Israel’s actions are aimed at fueling fire in the region, and Islamic countries must confront the Zionist regime’s warmongering and its endangering of regional stability and peace through solidarity.”
Pezeshkian added: “It is essential for the international community and Islamic countries to pressure the United States and the Zionist regime to stop the aggression and crimes against the countries of the region, especially Lebanon.”
The President also emphasized: “Iran’s responsible approach in accepting the ceasefire is in line with maintaining regional stability and preventing the expansion of conflicts, and its continuation depends on the other side’s actual adherence to its commitments.”
In this conversation, the President of Turkey—while wishing success, honor, and pride for the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, and the government and nation of Iran, and offering condolences for the death of a number of Iranian citizens and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured—emphasized the solidarity of the Turkish government and nation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, expressing satisfaction with the cessation of the war, emphasized his country’s readiness to cooperate with friendly countries in the region to continue efforts for the definitive end of the war and the establishment of sustainable security in the region.
The Turkish President, condemning Israel’s aggressive actions, which are a clear violation of international law, emphasized the necessity of holding this regime accountable for its crimes and aggressions against regional countries and the necessity of maximizing the use of the capacity of international negotiations, stating: “Israel must not be allowed to disrupt the negotiation process with its actions.”
