Control of Iran’s Oil Behind U.S. Aggression
WANA (Mar 10) – Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, wrote in a message on X that the main objective behind the military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran is to gain control over Iran’s oil reserves.
In his post, Baghaei shared a link to an article circulated by the White House spokesperson, which, according to him, openly explains the main reason behind the U.S. military action against Iran—namely the attempt to control Iran’s oil resources.
The article explicitly argues that the primary goal of the U.S. and Israeli military aggression against Iran is to secure dominance over Iran’s oil reserves, describing them as the “final piece of the puzzle” in a broader strategy aimed at controlling the global energy supply.
According to the argument presented in the article, once control over the oil of Venezuela and the Persian Gulf is consolidated, China’s access to affordable energy would be significantly restricted. This, in turn, would slow the country’s technological and economic rise.
As has been emphasized before, Iran is not only defending itself against what it describes as a ruthless war, but is also defending the fundamental principle of national sovereignty, the right of nations to self-determination, the future of the region, and the broader interests of the international community.
This issue, the statement argues, is inherently global. It touches on fundamental concepts such as independence, national sovereignty, respect for international norms, and fair access to energy resources.
For this reason, Baghaei concluded that the situation should raise awareness among regional neighbors, partners in the Global South, regional organizations, and people around the world that Iran’s struggle is also their struggle—one aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty, defending freedom, promoting energy justice, and preserving an international order based on international law rather than coercive power politics.
