Crowds Gather in Baghdad to Declare Support for Iran
WANA (Jan 28) – Crowds of Iraqi citizens gathered in the capital on Tuesday to express readiness to support and defend Iran, citing Tehran’s past support for Iraq.
According to reports, from early morning, a large number of Iraqis, some dressed in burial shrouds, assembled at volunteer registration centres designated for supporting Iran. Participants stated their willingness to assist and defend the country.
On Sunday evening, Abu Hussein al-Hamidawi, Secretary-General of Iraq’s Hezbollah Brigades, issued a statement saying that the Islamic Republic of Iran has stood for more than four decades alongside the oppressed and in support of the rightful causes of the Islamic nation.
He added that the time has come for all forces within the “Axis of Resistance” to support Iran and back the country with all available means.
On Tuesday morning, al-Hamidawi himself appeared at one of the volunteer registration centres, where he announced his readiness to carry out a “martyrdom operation” in support of Iran.
