Destruction of 50 Weizmann Laboratories in Iranian Strike
WANA (Sep 13) – Israeli media reported today that the Weizmann Institute of Science, one of Israel’s most important research centers, was hit by two Iranian missiles during the recent 12-day war, causing extensive damage.
The head of the institute’s scientific council described the losses as “irreparable,” stating: “The scale of destruction is such that 50 laboratories have been completely destroyed. Many of the expensive equipment and billion-dollar assets are gone, and students are unable to continue their academic work due to the lack of facilities.”
He also pointed to the international consequences of the attack, adding: “We are now facing a scientific boycott; many universities and research institutions around the world have suspended cooperation with us.”
As a key hub for Israel’s knowledge-based economy, the Weizmann Institute’s destruction represents not only a blow to the country’s scientific standing but also a severe financial setback.
