Details of Early Morning Explosion at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport
WANA (Jun 14) – Several loud explosions were heard in western Tehran in the early hours of Saturday morning, with reports confirming the sounds originated near Mehrabad International Airport.
According to initial reports, parts of the airport came under attack during a midnight confrontation with hostile forces.
Iranian air defense systems, particularly active over western Tehran, have been continuously engaged in intercepting and repelling aerial threats, reportedly neutralizing multiple incoming targets.
Preliminary details indicate that the explosions did not occur near the main runways, terminal buildings, or critical airport infrastructure. Instead, the blasts took place behind Terminal 4, near the maintenance and equipment buildings, specifically in the area housing fighter jet hangars.
Since early morning, various images claiming to show the aftermath of the incident have circulated on social media, though none have been independently verified.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
