Details of the Iran–Iraq Security Agreement
WANA (Aug 17) – The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council outlined the details of the recent security agreement between Iran and Iraq.
Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, in a televised interview about his recent trip to Iraq and Lebanon, stated: “Instead of allowing others to destabilize the region, we must safeguard stability along this path. For this reason, we signed an important security agreement with Iraq, the main goal of which is to establish a shared security environment between the two countries.”
He added: “This agreement includes a mutual commitment to prevent any disruption by individuals, groups, or third countries. Neither side may allow its territory to be used against the other, nor permit any breaches in security matters.”
Larijani stressed that this issue was significant even during the recent 12-day war, pointing out that parts of that conflict were supported from the airspace of certain countries. He explained: “The foundation of this security agreement has been updated and is based on mutual commitment between the two countries. Naturally, there are some considerations, since certain states may not be able to fully comply with all obligations in practice; however, these issues are correctable.”

Iran, Iraq Reject U.S. Interference Over Security Agreement
WANA (Aug 13) – The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad has condemned recent remarks by the U.S. State Department spokesperson on the Iran–Iraq security memorandum of understanding (MoU), calling them “interventionist and unacceptable” and in violation of the principles of the UN Charter. The statement reaffirmed the shared determination of […]
He continued: “Ultimately, based on our shared understanding within the Muslim community, we are striving to maintain security and stability in the region.”
Referring to the national unity that emerged in Iran after the recent Israeli aggression, Larijani said: “Although some conditions did not return to normal, one of the most striking outcomes was the unprecedented sense of national solidarity in Iran.”
He added: “It is no small matter for an entire people to stand together with a single will against an enemy like Israel. The scenes of the Iranian people’s presence were truly powerful and moving. For me, during those days in the mountains, it was deeply evident.”
The Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council continued: “Among those present were individuals with diverse political views—some even critical of the government and active in demonstrations. Yet, when Israel directly confronted the Islamic Republic, everyone expressed their support. This unified stance against Israel was remarkable and inspiring.”

Details of Ali Larijani’s Trip to Iraq and Lebanon
WANA (Aug 11) – Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council announced that a security agreement will be signed with Iraq during his visit to the country, and that he will also convey messages to Lebanon during his trip to Beirut. Before departing for Iraq and Lebanon on his first official trip since […]
Larijani recalled: “One of the leaders of a major regional country told me: ‘The people of the world have recognized Iran’s national solidarity.’ This statement is of great importance, because national unity is a tremendous asset—cultural, political, and social capital that plays a vital role in defending Iran, its national interests, and its security—despite all the diversity and differences within society.”
In another part of his remarks, he emphasized: “The issue of enemy infiltration inside Iran is very serious and must be addressed. Of course, we have had weaknesses, which is painful, and in some areas infiltration has succeeded, but we have been able to control much of the enemy’s influence.”
He added that the adversaries had pursued this infiltration in such a way that “Mr. Trump, in his own statements, described it as the ‘hellish final days’ for himself and Netanyahu, claiming that he had saved the situation.”
Larijani concluded: “We must look at this reality with pride and recognize that the enemy is constantly studying these experiences and adopting new methods. We, too, must act in the same way. We cannot always rely solely on military means. Along this path, we have lost dear ones, but the Iranian nation has displayed a different, radiant face—one that has inspired pride in Iran and its national identity, as I witnessed during this trip.”
