Direct Flights from Iran’s Southern Gateway to Muscat Launched
WANA (Aug 16) – Hormozgan Province has taken a significant step toward strengthening air connectivity, trade, and tourism with the launch of weekly direct flights between Bandar Abbas and Muscat, Oman.
According to the Hormozgan Airports and Air Navigation Department, the new route will operate every Thursday, offering round-trip services between the two cities. Officials describe the initiative as a strategic move to enhance economic and cultural ties between Iran and Oman, while also facilitating smoother travel for business and leisure.
The new air service is the result of consistent efforts and follow-ups by Hormozgan airport authorities and is expected to positively impact regional international exchanges. With these flights, business leaders and travelers will have easier access to Oman’s market and broader opportunities in trade and tourism.
The route also elevates Bandar Abbas International Airport’s role as a key transport hub in southern Iran. Given the cultural and economic significance of Iran-Oman relations, the service is anticipated to create a stronger platform for cultural exchange and expanded economic cooperation.
Authorities emphasize that the move supports sustainable development goals and boosts regional logistical capacity, ultimately contributing to the economic and social growth of Hormozgan Province.
Globally, the aviation industry generates $3.5 trillion in revenue—accounting for about 4.1% of the world’s GDP. Beyond airlines, the sector plays a vital role in linking people, businesses, and cultures across the globe, with its impact extending to airports, aircraft manufacturing, tourism, and logistics.
