Draft Anti-Iran Resolution Submitted to the IAEA Board of Governors
WANA (Nov 19) – The United States and the three European members of the E3 have submitted a draft resolution to this week’s meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors, calling for expanded Agency access to Iranian nuclear sites that were targeted during the 12-day conflict by the U.S. and the Israeli regime.
The draft, presented on Tuesday by the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, states that “the Islamic Republic of Iran must immediately provide the International Atomic Energy Agency with accurate information regarding its inventory of nuclear materials and safeguarded facilities in Iran, and grant all necessary access for the verification of this information.”
Earlier, Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, had warned against U.S. and European efforts to push for a resolution against Iran at the upcoming Board of Governors meeting. He stressed that such actions would “naturally lead to the complete abandonment of the understanding previously reached in Cairo.”
The submission of this draft resolution comes amid heightened tensions, casting further uncertainty over the prospects of returning to previously negotiated agreements.
