Dutch Police Assault on Pregnant Wife of Palestinian Man Is a Clear Violation of Human Rights
WANA (Jun 01) – The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry has condemned the violent treatment of a pregnant Palestinian woman by Dutch police, describing the incident as a blatant violation of human rights and calling for those responsible to be held accountable.
Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, reacted on Monday to a video aired by the Qatari network Al Jazeera showing a Dutch police officer forcibly throwing the pregnant wife of a Palestinian man to the ground during an arrest.
Commenting on the footage, Baghaei described the officer’s conduct as “extremely brutal and unjustifiable.”
“There is no excuse for a violent police assault on a pregnant woman simply because she wanted to remain beside her detained Palestinian husband,” he said.
Emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation, Baghaei added: “Dutch authorities must examine this clear violation of human rights and hold those responsible accountable.”
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also wrote that such incidents reflect “systemic bias and discrimination” within the Dutch police force.
According to reports, the incident occurred when a Dutch police officer forcefully pushed the pregnant wife of a Palestinian man to the ground. Witnessing the scene, the woman’s husband reportedly moved toward the officer and reacted to the incident. The video has attracted widespread attention across social media platforms and international media outlets in recent hours.
