Egyptian and Iranian Foreign Ministers Hold Phone Call with IAEA Chief
WANA (Oct 31) – Cairo announced that the Egyptian Foreign Minister held separate phone conversations with his Iranian counterpart and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.
In a statement released Friday on its official Facebook page, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi each spoke by phone with Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General.
According to the statement, the calls took place on Thursday as part of ongoing efforts to follow up on developments related to Iran’s nuclear file and to promote regional security and stability through peaceful means.
Cairo added that during the conversation, the Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of continuing dialogue between Iran and the IAEA and of strengthening cooperation based on the agreement signed on September 9 in Cairo.
The discussions also underscored the need to expand communication among all relevant parties in the coming period.
