WANA (Mar 14) – The President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi, held a phone conversation with the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, to discuss recent regional developments and rising tensions.

 

According to reports, el-Sisi expressed hope that the principle of good neighborliness in the region would be strengthened. He also called for what he described as Iranian attacks on the countries along the Persian Gulf to stop as soon as possible.

 

The Egyptian president voiced deep regret and serious concern over the escalation of current tensions, warning that the situation could have negative consequences for regional stability.

 

El-Sisi also referred to Egypt’s ongoing efforts to halt military operations and return to the path of negotiations, emphasizing the need for flexibility in pursuing diplomatic solutions.

 

During the call, Pezeshkian thanked Egypt and el-Sisi personally for their efforts to reduce tensions. He also reaffirmed Iran’s desire to maintain fraternal relations and good neighborly ties with Arab countries.
