WANA (Jun 07) – Iran’s Judiciary Chief has voiced strong support for Lebanon and its resistance movement following recent Israeli strikes on southern Beirut, describing the relationship between the Iranian and Lebanese peoples as a bond forged through “blood, sacrifice, and shared ideals.”

 

In a message posted on his social media account, Hojjatoleslam Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei said that Iran and the people of Lebanon are connected by “deep religious, spiritual, and ideological ties,” adding that “Lebanon’s resistance is part of Iran’s soul.”

 

He emphasized that the Lebanese resistance is not merely a name or a political label, but rather “the echo of dignity, honor, steadfastness, and the shared spirit of nations that refuse to surrender to oppression, aggression, and injustice.”

 

Referring to recent developments in Lebanon and Israel’s attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs, Ejei stated that “after its aggressive advances in southern Lebanon, the Zionist enemy has now set its sights on Beirut, the heart of the country.”

 

His remarks came amid escalating tensions in Lebanon following a major Israeli strike on Beirut’s southern suburb of Dahiyeh. Media reports indicated that several explosions rocked the al-Mreijeh area, which Israeli outlets claimed was targeted by approximately ten missiles launched by two fighter jets.

 

The Israeli military confirmed the attack, stating that it had struck what it described as Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Beirut. In a separate statement, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the operation was carried out under the direction of Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz and targeted Hezbollah facilities in the capital’s southern outskirts.

 

According to preliminary reports, at least seven people were killed and several others injured in the strike.

 

The attack took place despite earlier reports suggesting that strikes on Beirut had been halted under ceasefire understandings aimed at preventing further escalation. Iran had previously warned against any attack on the Lebanese capital, stressing that expanding hostilities into Lebanon could have serious consequences for regional stability.

 

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that U.S. officials had been informed of the operation before it was carried out. The reports emerged despite recent claims by U.S. President Donald Trump, who said that following a conversation with Netanyahu, attacks on Beirut had been suspended.
