WANA (Jan 20) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed strong support for Iran amid recent developments, voicing confidence that the Islamic Republic will overcome current challenges through political wisdom and diplomacy.

According to Turkish media reports, Erdogan said on Monday evening that Iran, as a key neighbour of Turkey, has faced new challenges following Israeli attacks that aim to undermine social stability and internal security in the country.

Referring to what he described as “destructive external schemes,” the Turkish president stated: “We believe that our Iranian brothers, by pursuing a prudent and intelligent policy that prioritizes dialogue and diplomacy, will, God willing, overcome this treacherous and malicious plot as well.”

Erdogan stressed that regional stability and security are of vital importance, noting that developments in Iran are not merely a domestic matter and could have broader regional implications. He emphasised the need to avoid foreign interference and to respect the sovereignty of states.

In the same context, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had earlier commented on threats and pressures from the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran, stating that Ankara is closely monitoring developments. “Whatever happens in Iran matters to us as well, and we are following the situation carefully,” he said.

The remarks by Turkish officials come at a time when recent developments in Iran have drawn widespread regional and international attention, prompting various reactions from governments and political actors.
