WANA (Mar 11) – The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson has strongly condemned the European Union’s latest sanctions against Iran, calling the move “illegal, immoral, and absurd.”

Esmail Baghaei said in a message posted on the social platform X (formerly Twitter) that the European Union’s decision to impose new sanctions on Iran is unjustified and contrary to international law.

“This is as absurd as it is immoral and utterly unlawful,” Baghaei wrote. He argued that the EU is attempting to punish Iran for exercising its “inherent right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter” and for resisting what he described as “brutal and unlawful aggression” by the United States and Israel.

Baghaei further accused European governments of continuing to arm and support those he called “genocidal aggressors,” saying such actions amount to “active complicity in international lawlessness and heinous atrocity crimes.”

Earlier, ambassadors from member states of the European Union approved a new package of sanctions targeting Iran.
