European Troika Must Be Held Accountable for Its Breaches
WANA (Aug 24) – The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, pointing to the recent moves of three European countries, stressed: “The European troika, by openly violating its commitments and blindly following the United States, must be held accountable for its breaches.”
Ebrahim Azizi, on Sunday, August 23, in a gathering with reporters in Shiraz, in reaction to the actions of the three European countries to activate the so-called snapback mechanism, stated: “This baseless ploy has no legal or political legitimacy against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Europeans have not the slightest qualification to resort to it.”
He emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the executor of the system’s macro-policies and the ratifications of Parliament, and added: “The European troika, by blatantly violating its obligations and blindly following the United States, not only lacks any legitimacy to use JCPOA mechanisms, but must also be held accountable for its breaches.”
Azizi warned: “Instead of threats and political theatrics, it is better for these countries to fulfill their overdue commitments, because any reckless, hostile, and irresponsible action against Iran will undoubtedly be regarded as clear enmity with the Iranian nation and will face an immediate and decisive response from the Islamic Republic.”
In conclusion, Azizi stressed: “The Iranian nation has never bowed to bullying and extortion, nor will it ever. Reciprocal and deterrent action against any hostile move is the legitimate and non-negotiable right of the Iranian nation.”
