European Troika Urges Iran to Return to Negotiations Amid Ceasefire
WANA (Jun 25) – The leaders of the three European countries known as the European Troika, referring to the “fragile” ceasefire established between Iran and the Israeli regime, stated: “Now is the time for diplomacy. Iran must return to the negotiating table.”
French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz met on Tuesday evening.
Starmer’s office, referring to the meeting, announced: “The leaders of the three countries reviewed the tense situation in the Middle East. All emphasized that now is the time for diplomacy and that Iran should return to the negotiating table.”
The call by the three European countries for Iran to “return” to negotiations comes while Iran has never left the negotiating table.
According to Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, it is the Israeli regime and the United States that, through their aggressive actions against Iran, destroyed the negotiating table and betrayed diplomacy.
